Music & lyrics by Vij Sodera

No form, that we should look at Him
No beauty, men hid their faces
Came like a root from dry ground
Despised, rejected by all men
Man of sorrows, familiar with grief
Despised and we esteemed Him not.
Despised, rejected by all men

He was there in the beginning of it all
He was there, all things were made through Him and
He was there, the Light shines in the darkest place
and the darkness shall not overshadow It at all

Wounded, bruised for our iniquities
No violence, no deceit came from His mouth
And by His stripes we are all healed
All like sheep we have gone astray
Everyone, each to his own way
The LORD laid on Him
The iniquity of us all

He was there in the beginning of it all
He was there, all things were made through Him and
He was there, the Light shines in the darkest place
and the darkness shall not overshadow It at all

No Form chorus

Vij’s notes:
Pardeep nylon copyOne day we bought an electronic keyboard as a present for Melanie and Lisa. Soon after the girls had finished playing on it, it was my turn.
I usually get inspiration for a new song from a guitar chord sequence, or a percussion rhythm. However, in this case, I selected a synth sound and played a minor chord. The sadness that was evoked immediately led me to paraphrase the verses of Isaiah chapter 53, which, 700 years before the event, prophetically described the Messiah and the nature of His death.
As a counterbalance to the sombre verse, I added the chorus, which paraphrases the glory and victory of the Messiah in the opening verses of John’s Gospel.
